Located in Gangnam Station, Brick Oven is a rarity in a city where the pizza landscape is dominated by Pizza Hut and Mr Pizza, chain restaurants that offer a korean-ized take on “American pizza”.  James Yu and Dan Cho opened Brick Oven with a singular goal: to bring authentic New York style pizza - nothing more, nothing less. To achieve this, the owners, who both grew up in the U.S. spent many years mastering the craft in NYC . Thanks to their efforts, those craving thin-crust,  chewy , foldable pizza no longer have to tolerate thick-crusted and overloaded pizzas that require a fork and knife (the horror) everywhere else in Seoul.

The atmosphere is casual with basic furniture and red brick walls, just like you’d find in a typical NY pizza joint, with an open kitchen so you can watch your authentic pizza being made. The staff speaks  fluent English which is not all that common in Seoul so naturally a lot of expats and foreign visitors drop in for a slice or two. Portions are bigger because, you know, America.

Brick Oven just opened up a second location in Central City, Gangnam, proving that a slice of New York in Seoul can be good business.
