Let’s not pretend, everyone loves fried chicken. Follow these quick and easy to follow steps and you’ll be crunching a fried delight just like Momma used to make. Start to finish in under 15 minutes, we like to double up on the portions to plan on a lot of overeating, it’s that good.


  • 1lb chicken thighs (cut into medium size pieces)

  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine

  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon 5 spice powder

  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped ginger

  • 1 tablespoon chopped scallions

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch



Step 1:

  • Add cut chicken into large mixing bowl

  • Add soy sauce, cooking wine, sugar, 5 spice powder, ginger, scallions, egg yolk, and cornstarch.

  • Gently mix.

Step 2:

  • For extra crisp (highly recommended), roll each piece in flour.

  • Heat cooking oil in frying pan at Medium-high heat.

  • Deep fry until golden brown, remove, and let it rest for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Plate, serve, and prepare yourself for the sounds of oooohhhh and ahhhhhh, enjoy! Nom Nom.
