As anyone who lives in or has been to Hong Kong knows, there is no shortage of eclectic well-designed retail outlets to part ways with your hard earned dollar. What sets Kapok apart is that thanks to the watchful eye of founder Arnault Castel, a transplant from France, it is super-focused on curating a shopping experience that feels new each time.
When you first enter any of the six Kapok stores, it may seem as if there isn’t any rhyme or reason to the selection. You’ll find everything from apparel to backpacks to stationery and other random knick-knacks. But if you look closely, what you’ll notice the thread that ties everything together is quality craftsmanship and attention to design. Castel and his team pride themselves in working with emerging designers, and boutique labels vs mass-market brands.
With the opening of its latest concept store in PMQ, which focuses on items crafted in Hong Kong, Kapok goes back to its well-dressed roots.
