Maokong is a quaint area in the southern outskirts of Taipei, widely known for its great scenic views and premium selection of Taiwanese tea. There is a wide variety of tea houses in Maokong to choose from, which serves several kinds of local grown tea and tea delicacies. Local grown Tieguanyin and Pouchong Oolong tea, are the “must haves” when making your selection. Keep in mind that unfermented tea usually comes with a strong flavor and contains a higher concentration of caffeine. We like Yaoyue Tea House and Zhangshan Temple, which are set in quieter parts of this area which are the best spots to experience the true tranquility of Maokong.
